Image Craft is excited to participate in the creation of the pavilions for the Arizona Centennial Best Fest, a series of three festivals to be held in Prescott, Tucson and Phoenix. As the largest community celebration in the state’s 100 year history, event attractions will include educational pavilions, cultural villages, entertainment, parades, food and drink, a carnival, and much more!
Shown here is a rendering of the Military History Pavilion, one of four educational pavilions that the ICON Themed Environments division of Image Craft will be fabricating for the AZ Centennial Best Fest, kicking off in Prescott Sept. 16th thru 18th.
The other three pavilions we’re involved in are History, Natural Resources, and Science & Future. Several other pavilions will be included by the time the Best Fest moves to Tucson in November and Phoenix in February of 2012.
We’ll be bringing you more updates as the event draws closer, but meanwhile, please visit the official Arizona Centennial web site for more information.
Hance Partners/Image Craft
Hance Partners/Image Craft recently printed over 30 images to help create the exhibit “Among the Giants” by National Geographic contributing photographer, Flip Nicklin. This awe-inspiring exhibit featuring extraordinary photographs of whales in their natural habitats opens August 23rd and runs through December 31, 2011 at the San Diego Natural History Museum in beautiful Balboa Park in San Diego, California.
"Hope" - Flip Nicklin
Widely regarded as the premier whale photographer of the world, Flip Nicklin will be presenting images featured in his latest book, Among Giants, according to SDNHM’s web site. “For anyone who has marveled at the majesty of whales in the wild, Among the Giants is guaranteed to be inspiring, even moving—its unmatched images of these glorious beings an inescapable reminder of our responsibility as stewards of the ocean. Accompanying the photographic exhibition will be a showing of the magnificent whale sculptures by world famous sculptor Randy Puckett.”
Trade Show Graphics Division Manager
Recently Image Craft helped Exhibits Northwest in Seattle create the finishing touches on a trade show booth for Propèt. “Our client supplied the design and vision, we recommended the materials and method to produce the PedRX sign, wings and counter front.”- Image Craft Trade Show Division.
Trade Show Graphics Division Manager
Image Craft’s Trade Show Division worked closely with Joe Shelman at Exhibits Northwest in Seattle to come up with a clever solution to integrate graphics on the private conference areas to go with the existing back-wall graphics on this 30’ custom display. Using the design from the background of the main mural, we separated the bubbles and wave lines to make a cut file for frosted vinyl. The design was then tiled to fit the individual laser cut frosted Plexiglas panels that were then inserted into the frames of the semi circular meeting areas. The top partition panels are individual product shots, UV direct printed to Plexiglas. By printing and applying vinyl to the translucent panels you get the benefit of the graphics from both perspectives, inside and outside of the rooms.
The result was private, well lit, and colorful meeting rooms that complement the overall look of Odyssey’s large display booth. Both our client and Joe’s client are very happy.

Martha Vermeire, Client Services Manager here at Image Craft, was invited to attend opening night festivities at Scottsdale Studio, a full service digital video and photography studio owned and operated by Bonnie Adams, a long time Image Craft customer and widow of renowned Western artist, Kenneth Freeman, for whom we have produced giclee prints from high quality digital scans of his original paintings for many years.
We were asked to contribute an Image Craft promotional piece to the Studio’s swag bag to be given to guests at the grand opening. Martha and I put our heads together and, using a previously created sample of the use of printable magnetic material on rolled steel as inspiration, decided to embed a coupon offering into our product using a custom QR code to be scanned by the recipient with any smartphone bar code scanner.
These photos show how the piece was produced, starting with one of my own original images of a rusty truck shot near Jerome, AZ.
Last week we posted the giant APS banners recently installed downtown on a parking garage, so today we thought we’d show you this video we made last year of a giant 110′ x 14′ Phoenix Suns banner being installed on the same building using a similar SignComp tension system:
As you can see in the video, the banner was printed on a Vutek 5300 using solvent ink on frontlit vinyl, an ideal combination for long-term outdoor signage, though we’ve recently upgraded our equipment to bring you even more print options using the latest technology! The video itself was shot and produced by our Installations Manager, Aaron Wright. (Whoa, slow down, there, Aaron, stop and smell the… uh… oranges….).
APS brings a touch of nature to downtown Phoenix! Starting with huge 50GB files, Image Craft printed these superwide format banners on frontlit vinyl using solvent ink and joined the panels together with welded seams. FLV (frontlit vinyl) is ideal for outdoor signage due to its weather-resistant, UV stabilized, and flame-retardant properties, but also has multiple indoor uses.
The APS banners were installed in collaboration with YESCO at the Jefferson Street Garage for Legends Entertainment District, a partnership between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns to create a unique experiential outdoor marketing project in downtown Phoenix centered around such landmark facilities as US Airways Center and Chase Field.
